Tungsten Carbide Plate & Disc Blanks

Precision ground tungsten carbide plate and disc blanks for custom cutting tools, wear-resistant components, and industrial blades. Available in square, rectangular, and round shapes, with thicknesses from 1 mm to 50 mm and sizes up to 300 × 300 mm. Both major faces are surface-ground for good flatness and parallelism, allowing flexible secondary machining such as wire EDM, grinding, drilling, and brazing.

Precision Ground Tungsten Carbide Plate & Disc Blanks

Persistools tungsten carbide plate and disc blanks are supplied as semi-finished materials for customers who require greater freedom in designing custom cutting tools, wear-resistant components, and carbide blade geometries.

Available in square, rectangular, and round shapes, these carbide blanks are suitable for applications where standard inserts or finished tools cannot meet specific dimensional or structural requirements.

Both major faces can be precision surface-ground to provide good flatness, parallelism, and surface consistency, reducing the amount of preparation required before secondary machining.

Plate sizes can range from approximately 10 × 10 mm up to 300 × 300 mm, with thicknesses from 1 mm to 50 mm. Round carbide discs can also be supplied in different diameters and thicknesses according to customer requirements.

The material can be further processed by:

  • Wire EDM cutting
  • Surface grinding
  • Profile grinding
  • Center-hole machining
  • Edge and angle grinding
  • Brazing
  • Custom contour machining

Typical applications include:

  • Profile knife blanks
  • Custom-shaped cutting tools
  • Industrial slitting knives
  • Circular blade blanks
  • Wear-resistant plates
  • Brazed wear surfaces
  • Guides, liners, and wear components
  • Special carbide machine parts

For example, rectangular carbide plates can be wire-cut into complex profile knife shapes, while round blanks can be machined with different center-hole diameters, cutting edges, and bevel angles to produce customized circular slitting knives.

Large carbide plate blanks can also be brazed onto steel bodies or machine components where a broad wear-resistant surface is required.

By supplying the carbide in a semi-finished, precision-ground form, customers retain greater flexibility over the final geometry while reducing unnecessary carbide machining during their own production process.

Different dimensions, carbide grades, grinding allowances, and surface conditions can be supplied according to the final application.

What are tungsten carbide plate blanks used for?
Tungsten carbide plate blanks are commonly used for manufacturing custom cutting tools, profile knives, circular blades, wear plates, guides, liners, and other wear-resistant components. They are especially suitable for applications requiring non-standard shapes or large carbide surfaces.
Yes. The two major faces can be precision surface-ground to provide good flatness, parallelism, and surface consistency. This reduces preparation work before further wire EDM, grinding, brazing, or other machining processes.
Yes. Round carbide disc blanks can be further machined into circular slitting knives and other rotary cutting components. Customers can machine the center hole, outer diameter, cutting edge, and bevel angle according to their own tool design.
Yes. Square, rectangular, and round carbide blanks can be supplied in different dimensions and thicknesses. Custom carbide grades, grinding allowances, surface conditions, and dimensional tolerances can also be produced according to drawings or application requirements.
